How Does a Phase Detector Work, Its Maintenance, and On-site Precautions

Recommended by Darui Electric

What are the usage methods and precautions for a phase detector? What should users of a phase detector pay attention to? How does a wireless high-voltage phase detector work? How should a phase detector be maintained?

Working principle of the phase detector: The high-voltage phase signal to be measured is extracted by the collector, processed, and then transmitted directly. The phase detector receives it and compares the phases, then qualitatively determines the result after phase comparison.

1. Maintenance and Care

1. This product is a precision instrument and should not be opened casually.

2. Replace the battery at least once a year.

3. This product should not be stored in humid, high-temperature, or dusty environments.

4. The insulating rod should undergo a voltage withstand test before use.

5. The insulating rod should undergo a voltage withstand test once a year.

Note: The upper end of the insulating rod section has a built-in antenna 350mm long, which cannot undergo a voltage withstand test. The insulation withstand voltage between the built-in antenna and the outer wall of the rod is (15) kV

2. Precautions

1. On-site operations must comply with the requirements of the "Power Safety Tools Pre-test Procedures"

2. The A-rod and B-rod of the high-voltage phase detector should be grounded separately. If the ground wire of one rod falls off during work, stop working and resume measurement after reconnecting it.

3. The high-voltage phase detector should be placed in a dry place and its insulation resistance value should be checked regularly. The contact hook of the 35KV phase detector to ground is about 60M. For the 6-10KV phase detector, it is about 27mm.

4. On-site work requires four people, but no less than three, and a second type of work ticket must be filled out.

5. The design of the high-voltage phase detector has minimized exposed metal parts, but during work, you should still maintain high concentration to prevent line-to-line short circuits and grounding accidents.

3. Safety Rules

1. During on-site testing, operators should operate according to the safety distance standards for high-voltage testing of the power department.

2. The voltage level of the tested insulating rod is ≤ 220KV.

3. (Special note: Before each use, please carefully check the insulation performance of the insulating rod, pay attention to weather conditions, and strictly comply with the relevant national regulations for high-voltage testing!)

4. During use, you should conscientiously implement the unit's safety rules and regulations, and strictly comply with the relevant provisions of DL408-91 Safety Work Regulations (Electrical Part of Power Plants and Substations). Carefully store the instrument and regularly check insulation.

5. The insulating rod is a 6-section telescopic type. When in use, regardless of whether the working voltage is the rated voltage, the telescopic insulating rod should be extended to its longest state (about 3.1 meters). When holding it, you should only grip the sixth section, and not the fifth section.

6. During use, avoid using radio transmitting devices (such as walkie-talkies) simultaneously to prevent interference with the receiver.
