When purchasing a quantitative gas leak detector, do you often encounter such questions: the equipment parameters appear similar, but after a period of on-site use, detection accuracy decreases, response slows down, and maintenance costs exceed the budget? The following points on maintenance and usage will help you grasp the key aspects in procurement decisions.
This instrument is based on the electron capture (ECD) principle and is suitable for concentration detection and leak point location of electron-capturing gases such as SF6 and R12. Daily maintenance should focus on sensor cleanliness: it is recommended to check whether the sensor surface is contaminated every three months. If dust or oil stains are found, gently wipe with a cotton swab moistened with anhydrous ethanol, and wait until completely dry before turning on. During long-term storage, power on for 30 minutes each month to maintain sensor activity.
It is recommended to perform standard gas calibration every 12 months. The calibration gas should preferably be SF6 standard gas with a concentration close to the daily detection range. During on-site detection, avoid prolonged operation in environments with strong electromagnetic interference or high humidity; the probe should be moved slowly, approximately 5 mm from the suspected leak point, at a speed not exceeding 0.05 m/s. After detection, purge the probe with clean air for 3-5 minutes to prevent residual gas adsorption.
During procurement, verify: detection range (0-1000 ppm), sensitivity (0.1 ppm), response time (≤3 seconds), recovery time (≤10 seconds), operating temperature (-10°C to 50°C), power supply (rechargeable lithium battery, endurance ≥8 hours). Also confirm whether the instrument has audible and visual alarms and concentration curve display functions for quick on-site location.
Common problems include probe blockage, battery aging, and baseline drift. Preventive measures: clean the probe inlet after each use to avoid dust inhalation; replace the battery every two years; baseline drift can be eliminated by preheating for 10 minutes after power-on and performing zero calibration. It is recommended to purchase spare probe filters and battery packs with the instrument to reduce downtime.
This instrument is suitable for leak detection of SF6 switchgear, GIS combined electrical apparatus, instrument transformers, and other equipment. The storage environment should be dry and ventilated, with a temperature of -20°C to 60°C and relative humidity ≤85%. Use a dedicated case during transportation to avoid severe vibration.
