Automatic Charging Features of AGV Batteries
AGV batteries' automatic charging is composed of AGV power measurement, devices, charging management system, and ground charging mechanism. AGV typically uses lithium batteries as the power source. When the power meter shows insufficient power, the AGV will first apply to the control console for charging, then drive to the designated charging position.
AGV batteries generally have two automatic charging methods. One is that when the battery capacity drops below a certain value, the AGV automatically drives to the charging position to charge. After charging is completed, the charger sends a charging task completion message to the AGV management system, which then dispatches the AGV to work. The other is that when the AGV is idle, even if the battery capacity has not dropped to a certain value, it can be charged, and after charging is completed or when there is a task to execute, it will automatically leave the charging area. Obviously, the second method has higher work efficiency.
A ground charging connector is installed at the charging position on the AGV's route, and there is a matching connector at the bottom of the AGV. When the AGV battery needs charging, the AGV drives to the charging position, and the charging sliding contact plates of the two connectors automatically connect to achieve automatic charging.
